I've lived in Boston most of my life and I think I've reached the point where I've run out of creative date ideas. I'd love to do something outside of museum, ice skating, food, movie etc. Any ideas?

There's always karaoke. I could use some suggestions as well. Anyone?

That IS a good idea...but I don't think anyone (particularly a date!) would want to hear me sing haha

Yeah I guess Karaoke is better with groups. Maybe a wine tasting. Or they have monthly spice lessons at Tamarind Bay in Harvard Square.

Rabia's Ristorante in the North End is good Italian, and Ginza in Chinatown near the Gates is decent Japanese fud!

A guy took me to see a talk (there are tons of lectures, symposiums, etc around the colleges here) and then we went to Matt McMurphy's and saw The Slip (amazing jazz band in tiny venu!).  Best date I've had.  So I'd say look for local live musicians or check out places that bring in musicians like Paradise Rock Club AND/OR check out what's happening at the colleges.  All of this is usually listed in calendar section of Thursday's Globe, by the way.  Happy dating :)

There's a site that has some good date ideas for Boston (the site is www.localdatespots.com, but the boston-specific information is at http://www.localdatesp..., Massachusetts, United States

It's community-based, so that makes it more likely that the ideas are good (rather than being sponsored by the business).

King Richard's Faire....if you don't like the medieval thing, the people watching alone is fantastic. There are some real Dungeons and Dragons types there. www.kingrichardsfaire.com.  There is also a huge corn maze at David Farmland.  Hope I don't lose my elite status for these rec's.

I know on Monday nights there are a couple of restaurants and cooking schools that offer cooking classes where you make and then eat your meals...what they are, I'm not sure.
How about going to Good Times?
Forest Hills Cemetery always has things going on, and you'd be surprised how lively it is.
tis the season for apple/pumpkin pickin' too.

drive out to Harvard mass, route 2, exit 38 I believe. Go to Fruitlands Museum for brunch, have a walk around the museum, and enjoy the BEAUTIFUL views. When you're done, keep going down the road to Bolton Orchards, and get fresh apples, and fresh hand-made apple cider donuts, right out of the oil. Or shit, you could always jump out of a plain together. Nothing brings you closer than holding on to each other tightly while falling 5000 feet out of a plane. There is a place that's not far at all outside of Boston, just don't know where it is. Or take a night Music Cruise out into Boston harbor. Good music, cocktails, and a good time, they only run Fri. and sat. out of Rowe's Wharf, but it may be a little cold for that. There is this place my aunt went to brew your own beer, I don't know where it is, but it's close to Natick. You can also make your own wine. She had a blast with her hubby, and the wine or beer you get at the end of it all lasts a good long wile so the memories keep goin!     Any questions about anything I've said, feel free to personal message me.

I forgot Hiking! There is nothing better than hiking to the top of a tall mountain, and just sitting there with someone special enjoying the view, Mt. Monadnock (sp?) is a great time!

If you know what kind of person your date is, there are some fun volunteer opportunities.  Much of it is during the day, but they do call it a dayt...

I second the pottery idea.

Can you get sailing lessons for a two person boat?  I think that would be pretty fun.

There are gondola rides on the Charles river

Grab a picnic and take your date to the courtyard at the Boston Public Library.

Take a walk in Brookline to Griggs park hidden little park then follow up with a beer or two at Publick House or dessert at Athans

Buy her/him a Tarot Reading Tuesday or Thursday nights at Cuchi Cuchi and chat over expensive drinks at the bar

Make a scavenger hunt

I like dates with fun missions--like costume shopping for halloween--that way you can go to the Garmet District (great date!) and laugh while trying on fun outfits.

Other fun dates--take your date to 5-Wits if she's never been, then hit up a movie after at AMC Fenway--or maybe--if your date is funny--take them to AMAZING porn store around the corner--for laughs.

Take them to Sushi at Nori or Fugayku in Brookline then a Midnight movie at the Coolidge Corner theater http://www.coolidge.org

Look for random day dates to fun places like the Punk Rock Flea Market (coming up October 21st) then dinner.

Also, take your date to SALEM, MA for the day--it's accesible by the commuter rail if you don't have a car--also you can always take your date to the Museum of Bad Art in Needham
