doug m. says:
Empress Pavillion is the default choice. between broadway and main towards the end of china town (well before the corn field).
Be prepared to wait on the weekend, but there are some great toy-stores in the mall to check out while you're waiting.
03/02/2007
Macelle G. says:
There's also ABC on Ord St. which is cheaper, but the food is not as yummy as at Empress Pavillion.

Mike L. says:
Aaron, Chinatown blows in terms of getting dim sum. In case, you still insisted on getting dim sum, this is my choice and Danielle A's choice for dim sum in Chinatown (she helped me in suggesting in giving this place a try):
Ocean Seafood
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Oh, a note for non-Asians...it's also gotten an "A" health ratings. I don't know if that matters because it meant very little to me.
Stay cleared of Empress Pavillion. That place has one of the worst service I have ever seen. I have read your review on that place, so you'll understand my pain.

dim sum in chinatown blows so badly that i would rather have something else. and actually the chinese food in chinatown isnt even that great either. i'd rather just drive a little bit and get a burrito from a vendor.

Since i work here, its about variety... we'd eaten at many of the other places in the area, so it was time for dim sum... but I still love La Noche Buena in Olvera street, and my new favorite obsession, Ramen!!

when in china town, follow all the gov't employees and jurors, head out to spring street to family pastry. They don't do the whole cart thing deal here just straight shumai and har gow from the titantic bamboo steamers. i think its like $.35-$.45 cents a pop.
03/03/2007
Mike L. says:
OK OK...please inform me as in where in Los Feliz as in the location of that dim sum place. That would be something.
Juju..set it up. I'm ready for a dim sum action. Of course it's lunch, that would meant I had to get up early again.
Joan, Rosemead is about southeast of Chinatown.

Hey Masa, up on March 2nd, Linda's reply in asking if there was a dim sum place in Los Feliz. Further up earlier in the tread, I just realized in that Judy's reponse to Aaron in which she promised him a brunch at Los Feliz, but Linda thought it was a dim sum. I caught that in a quick haste.
So...no dim sum in Los Feliz.
03/03/2007
judy w. says:
usually there is talk of brunch on sundays with some other yelpers and it's usually in los feliz - hence the reference.
dont worry folks - i'm sure if you miss the upcoming dimsum mtg, there will be others to make up for it... i know cee will be planning one later since she's gonna miss this first one we're having in march...
03/04/2007
Aaron "I'm Roman so I speak Latin" R. says:

Forget about Dim sum in Chinatown - is there a place for dim sum in San Gabriel Valley that serves on the weekDAYS? Unfortunately most of the restaurants I've called are closed in the morning and my friend from Alaska is really craving some good dim sum which is pretty much nonexistent in Anchorage.
10/04/2007
Judy "I am no longer Yelping at work..." H. says:
wendy - i don't know about dim with the carts on weekdays, but you can most likely go and order off the menu. not the same effect but still the same food. try 888 on valley blvd.
