I'm sure everyone is aware (and cares) that the world cup is only 53 days, 14 hours, 15 minutes and 11 seconds away!
This thread is about pubs/bars/restaurants that will be showing games.
Hopefully this will be updated regularly.
The official site of the tournament is at:

I've watched from Chez Jay's in Santa Monica. Both the manager and weekend bartender are football fans. Back in '94 two of the South American teams were hotel-ed near by. Ocean Ave was mad crazy with World Cup fans!

zabumba on venice blvd is showing all the games. for a full cultural immersion go watch the brazilian team's games. caution: if they lose a game, watchers may experience a sincere, acute depression.

Love the football talk. Some great games today. England's defense was superb today. Maybe if Rooney hadn't flaked out England could have scored a goal in the OT--they were very close. France was clearly the most impressive of the four teams today. Zidane was a man among boys it seemed.

Italy wins on penalty kicks. Zidane gets ejected for a silly foul. Marcello Lippi, the Italian Coach is the best living football coach ever. Oh and I got free pizza and beer. ROCK!

lothari o. says:
zidane's foul didn't change anything. if it were early in regulation i'd be more critical. i think he just wanted to go out as a badass, which he is.
i watched at the pig & whistle today. they did a great job.

Materazzi :" Zidane you think you're so Tough but I think you're a Big Pussy. I dare you to go head butt me in the chest when the refs not looking "
Zidane: " You dare me you Italian sonofabitch !!"
And the rest is history.....

BTW after forensic lip reading it is said that Materrazi called Zidane quote " A nigger born to a terrorist whore" and called his sister a prostitute .
