Hi Yelp Land - I'm trying to compile some of the best and/or most talked about new restaurant openings of last year. Would love your lists and of course if you've been there, you better yelp about that too!

Fatty Crab is the perfect level of restaurant for me. Not a cheap place with no character, but not super expensive and stuffy with minute portions either. The food is a great mix of delicious Asian cuisine and the space is small and cozy and full of great energy.

Cookshop, a second restaurant from the owners of Five Points is superb. The menu is diverse, but basically focusses on locally sourced ingredients that are fresh and flavorful. I had the duck breast with dried cherries and it was absolutely incredible. Lovely atmosphere as well.

Nish, is this list published somewhere on the site?

Nish N. says:
Not exactly, but as the site grows as it has in San Francisco (more user content), this page:
http://www.yelp.com/find gives you a pretty good indication. Yelpers also create their own personal favorite lists, but we haven't yet come up with a way to combine a Talk Thread like this into one list.
That said, we are about to make Talk searchable, and Lists too, so it will be easier to see cool stuff and favorites...

I also second Stanton Social and Gyu Kaku. Also, if you suddenly get ridiculously rich--try Del Posto. Batali style up a serious notch.

I've gone to Blue Ribbon Bakery 3 times in the past couple of months. As far as expensive classy restaurants this is up there for me. If we're talking cheap tasty sandwiches and great brunch I stand behind the Grey Dog's Coffee.

Tempo, on 5th avenue in Park Slope gets my vote!
I'm not sure of it's exact opening date - it may already be a year old. But as far as Brooklyn fine dining goes, this place is truly outstanding(excellent wines by the glass, professional yet personal service, and the food, goodness. I've had almost everything on the menu, and not a bad dish)
