I second Veniero's, but just for the canoli and pignoli. As far as the other stuff served, the place has gone kind of downhill lately IMHO. Get it to go to too because the service in there is pretty impersonal. And welcome to Yelp, Sam P!

Yep, Yelp happens! LOL!
Again, sorry Sam. Good to know that you're still as nice now as you were way back then and didn't let power pervert you into a harsh egomaniacal monster.
:-)

Craziness!
Veniero's is yummy... I was there two nights ago. I haven't tried their cannoli, but their cakes are pretty damn tasty.

I had a Canoli Birthday cake once. HUGE Canoli shell filled with enormous amounts of cream. Around this monstrosity of deliciousness layed empty canoli shells my friends could fill by dunking them in the "large" one.... Nothing like sharing food to bring good friends closer.... And yes, it was TASTY!!! Though, sadly do not recall where I got it. Will ask though.

Yeap... most unique cake ever... though, I am thinking of getting my next b-day cake from Duff at Ace of Cakes... would be SO cool

Holy crap.
1. I thought Gourmet G. had returned and that was scary enough.
2. A Cannoli Birthday cake sounds so dreadfully delightful that I am afraid to find out where such a delicious monstrosity came from.

the nice thing about veneiro's is that you can get mini cannolis in all their flavors (really variations of chocolate dipped, plain, and chocolate creme). but definitely good for a party, as well as the pastries (tri colored cookies, mini custard tarts, mini fruit tarts).
oh yeah.

Steve "S&" M. says:
I've found their cakes to be dry and uninteresting lately, though I've always loved their canoli and pignoli. The pignoli especially are great, they rival the ones I've had in Italy. Sadly though, their sfogliatelle are a huge disappointment. Plus, if you have to wait in an interminable line for what turns out to be a crap - shoot, I'd just rather go home dessertless.
Their servers need a MAJOR attitude adjustment too. Wait, was this just a review for Veniero's I wrote? Love those pignoli though.

I'm a Bronxite long exiled to Sacramento, CA, but still get back to the 'hood every year or two. Miss the good Italian pastry from the borough, especially Arthur Avenue. One minor yelp -- for the cognescenti of Italian pastry -- don't say "cannoli" unless you are refering to two or more. "Cannoli" is the plural (not cannolis). And just one is a "cannolo."
