You should try some other location outside of midtown area. Try some spots in del mar... the Poseidon is a cool place to start. Right on the beach and sweet bar and a nice crowd.

You are in North Park, or seem to be, so you could start at the Blue Foot bar or head on over to Hillcrest and have a few drinks at Crush. Though in Hillcrest you might not be so lucky so you can always try PB Bar & Grill. Ha.

As to wine bars, personally, vino makes me amorous and sleepy, a dangerous combo for a single woman!

Have you considered Home Depot? The man-woman ratios are great, and I seem to get chatted up in there quite often. Bonus: if you don't meet anyone, at least you'll get some stuff done around the house.

I got dumped right before Christmas.  My plan so far has been this, go to places where the owners/bartenders know me and the clientele is chatty.  That way you are not depending on or looking for a hook up (which can be really disappointing when the "right type of guy" isn't there), and you can still bond with people (feel less like a single leper) and let your heart heal.  Hang out with friends and say "yes" to any social activity offered you.  I totally second the massage thing - I've got one booked on V-Day just for myself, and if all else fails run away to a tropical island alone.  That usually works for me.  Also, some of the best international rugby players are going to be in town this weekend.  You can meet up with the teams after the matches on Sunday - they have designated bars downtown if you are the type of girl who has the "get over someone by getting under someone else" philosophy (which I don't subscribe to personally but whatever!).  I bet they're hot and strong :)

Meetup.com has started a lot of Single's Groups... that are doing very well.
A number of them have "Hurry Date"-- or "Speed Dating" events...

I'd try that--- you have a shot at talking about 7 min. with a number of different guys-- say between 8-20 guys-- how many that show up.

Its much better than "Let's Do Lunch"-- because that costs over $1,000 for the year-- and they only set you up on 10 or so dates.

I also recommend Match.com, Matchmaker.com, e-Harmony, and Chemistry.com---
All of these are internet sites-- and take time to write the best profile-- and put up the best pictures.

You've got to be really careful-- and meet the guys that you meet on an internet site-- away from your home.  Meet them at a public venue--and you bring your own car-- don't have them come and pick you up.

Be very selective...
There are some great guys still out there--
But there are some pretty big creeps as well.

Got to determine which is which... and that takes time.

Liam... single guys do not go to wine bars in groups. It doesn't happen. They will go there if it's with a mixed group.

Bottom line: Attractive girls shouldn't have to "find" single guys... and they don't need "miles of men" and "let's do lunch" and they shouldn't have to troll for sex at bars in PB. This is not the way the game was meant to work.
