I'm getting ready to buy a Toyota and I'm looking for some recommendations on the best Toyota dealership in the area.  I was out at Fremont Toyota yesterday and wasn't "feeling the love".  I live in the south bay and would prefer something close by but would be willing to drive a bit to get a good deal and a good experience.

I think I'm going to go check them out today.

I should have mentioned in the original post that details on good or bad experiences would be appreciated.

I went to Toyota Dublin to buy my Tundra. I would say they were pretty good. Just do your homework first. I felt they gave me a good price but I still had to deal a little bit. I also went through the Costco fleet price program so I felt a little safer that they  give the Costco price upfront.

I've heard that Piercy and Tracy Toyota are good.  Not sure if the former is still around.

For what it is worth, I have had terrific luck with Toyota Sunnyvale.  My aunt referred me to them when I left college years ago.  Ric Dickerson is their online/direct sales manager.  They have this policy where they will give you a legit, competitive quote up-front (if you already know what you want, that is).  They have access to over 9,000 vehicles, so getting what I wanted was easy - a Civic DX hatchback way back when...  You can get a quote online from:

I hope that helps, good luck finding your new car.

i'm not just saying this b/c i was born and raised in alameda, but really i heard that ron goode is GREAT....plus i've seen their license plate holders all over the bay area for 2 decades...if that's not proof, i don't know what is.

Thanks for all of the tips.

I ended up going to Capital Toyota in San Jose and had a pretty good experience.  So far I'd add them to my recommendation list.  We'll see how they do if I need to take it in for service.

To answer Greg E's Q.  I ended up with a 4Runner and I'm very happy with it.

Just thought I would add to the mix here.  My friend just bought a Prius through Toyota Marin (http://www.toyota-mari...).  They treated him fairly, they have a great new facility, and I would recommend the dealership to a friend.  Be sure to ask for Jon Frank.

Capitol Toyota is, by far, the best in the area. Talk to Tu Nguyen in the Internet department and ask for a quote tnguyen@capitoltoyota..... He's amazing. I also have a Bay Area car dealership list on my Yelp that includes 4 local Toyota dealers. Feel free to check it out for deets. I hate the word deets, yet I am compelled to say it. Sigh.

save any hassles next time and go through a Credit Union or Costco to get a deal on a car.  They typically deal with the Fleet Managers so your pricing will be really good.

Go to Edmunds.com and find out the what the invoice price it.  Call a Fleet Manager and get his price and then take that information into a bunch of showrooms and whoever gives you the best price then go for that.  I've always been able to beat Fleet pricing and Costco and even have them throw in extras like a navigation system etc.

Alot of friends bring their cars to Piercey (N 1st street SJ). I don't personally have a Toyota, so I don't have first hand experience with them.

We also have had good luck with Sunnyvale Toyota. Although we didn't get a quote online, going into the dealer about an hour before they close on a Sunday did wonders for getting a good deal :) .

All I know is Piercy Toyota has horrible horrible service. I had a very bad experience there where they kept telling me they would do things and not doing them .It was very irritating. I wont be doing business with them again.

Capitol and Stevens Creek usually have a tendency to over charge thier customers
I would always suggest that you shop online for the best deals
i mean how far would you drive to save money?
Gilroy? Sacramento? SF?
just some food for thought

I've JUST come back from Toyota Marin and had the worst experience (out of 5 dealerships this weekend). I was basically called a liar and I knew more about the car/features/prices than the salesperson. The price was WAY over what others in the Bay Area is charging. So far, I'd recommend San Bruno Toyota.

I am looking to buy a Toyota Prius. I had the worst experience at the Piercey Toyota dealership in Milpitas.
Sales people were fighting amongst themselves in front of customers, when I asked for asked for the Prius package details they were not interested in providing me with any information. I asked them to give me the pricing sheet which they asked me to return when I said I was gong to check out some other dealerships. Can you believe that!! I hope somebody higher up at this place is looking at these reviews. They has some bad people there.
An exact opposite experience at Toyota Sunnyvale. The sales people were courteous, upfront and helpful. I am going to buy my car there.

I know Alameda Toyota does not have a good rep on Yelp but I had a good experience with them.  They charged me $2000 less than any other dealer in the Bay Area.  Good Luck!  Oh if you go, talk to Gus.
