Greta P. says:
Okay so after a year of unsuccessfully searching for a job, I've finally had it.
I'll be 18 the end of May. I'm in school until 3pm Mon-Fri until June 13. Weekends are completely free.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a good place to work? I will willingly work for minimum wage. I'd prefer it to be close to downtown, but really anywhere in Seattle, Mercer Island, or Bellevue is fine.
Thanks guys.

Greta,
Depending on what you're looking to do, Craigslist might be a great place to start, either for part time or weekend work. http://seattle.craigsl... -- lots of open-minded, tolerant employers post jobs in the employment section there.
Where have you tried, and what have the reactions been? And what sort of work would you most *like* to do?

Craigslist is a great place to look - there's a Part Time category. You might also try a website called Teens4Hire - http://www.teens4hire....
And AmeriCorps works for some, especially if you're looking to go to college later http://www.americorps....
Also, try law firms - they often need part time clerks - my sister and a few friends worked for law firms when they were in high school.
And last but not least, try the temporary agencies. There are part time jobs out there, and full time in summer, depending on your work experience. You don't need much experience at all to be a file clerk or receptionist - just be friendly and pass some basic clerical tests.
Good luck!

Thank you guys so much for your recommendations. In response to your question Sky, I'm really fine with pretty much any respectable part time job, other than fast food places.
I'll post back with any progress I make.
Thanks again guys.

My boyfriend jsut put his two weeks in at the Suncoast Motion Picture Co. in Westlake Center, on the bottom floor at the base of the escalator. It's a minimum wage job (which is why he's taking on a fulltime job elsewhere) but it's a great location in central downtown with loads of opps from surrounding stores to work elsewhere. Movie theatres and movie rental stores are also good places to find a decent part time job.
Good luck!
